Construction of the Parthenon began in 447 BC, replacing the older temple that was destroyed by the Persians, and was completed in 432 BC. the aim of the Parthenon was to accommodate the statue of Athena Parthenon created of ivory, silver and gold. 1st within the fifth century, the statue was looted by one amongst the Roman Emperor, and brought to Constantinople, where he later destroyed.
