Mandatory Five Places Visited in Macau
Macau has some interesting places to visit. Unfortunately, the predicate as a gambling paradise to make the price of lodging in there fairly expensive for the backpacker.
To work around this, I stay in Hong Kong and came to Macau by ferry. Once arrived at the ferry terminal in Macau, hotel and casino nuances of golden yellow Sands immediately welcomed. From there, my “ride” the Grand Lisboa Casino free bus that will take the main road, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro.
With down this path, I can instantly find interesting places that characterizes Macau. But before continuing the journey, I stopped across the street (and into the alley) to buy egg tarts in Margaret’s Café e Nata.
Senado Square
While enjoying the egg tart, about three hundred yards to the front when down Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Senado field directly visible to the pond and fountain in the middle of the field. Why do Senado Square or in the Portuguese language, Largo do Senado is must-see?
This area is witness to the history of Macau as an entry into western countries to China in the past. Almost in every corner of this field displays the architects of European-style buildings. Worth a visit in this area is the church of St. Dominic and the Holy House of Mercy. The latter represents the first institution that had the idea that the first western-style clinic in Macau.
Among the old buildings, many shops and restaurants can be visited. With these old buildings, so this location is the best location for the shooting. If this field visit during the day, the sun is pretty hot. So, be prepared to bring an umbrella or sunglasses.
Cathedral ruins. Paul
Of Senado Square, the next goal that must be visited are the ruins of the Cathedral of St. Paul. Along the road to the ruins of a lot of food and souvenir stalls. Compared to Hong Kong, Macau shopping is a bit cheaper. Muslims please be careful trying to snack on here because a lot of food from pork.
From a distance, it looks beautiful ruins, especially the flower garden at the left side of the incline to the church. From the top of the ruins, the views of Macau city looks pretty awesome. Building a luxury casino and colors that blend in with the old buildings and the somber color sometimes looks shabby a unique blend.
Casino Building
Although not like to gamble, enter the building and marvel at the casino interior design casinos in the state of this former Portuguese colony. In addition to The Venetian Macao, there are some casinos that simply building eye-catching it from both outside and inside.
For example the Grand Lisboa and MGM Grand, located at Avenida De Dr. Sun Yat Mon As the name implies, the theme of the interior of the building was themed film. Some parts of the park and the restaurant doubles as the filming location. Panda park adjacent to the casino to be my favorite place to hang out. At each entrance to the casino, we were immediately greeted by a golden statue of Kung Fu Panda.
Statue of Guan Yin
Not far from the MGM Grand hotel and casino, a statue of Guan Yin, or if the martial arts film is often referred to as Dewi Kwan Im. Kwan Im sculpture is made of bronze as high as 20 feet above the building shaped like a lotus bud. That resembles the Virgin Mary statue was designed by Portuguese artist, Christina Rocha Leiria.
This statue is a bit away from the main island of Macau because it is built on a small artificial island and there are long passages. On the left side of the statue, visible Macau scientific center featuring architects of the building is no less unique.
Macau tower
The last place that must be visited in Macau is the Macau Tower. It is located some distance away. Moreover, most of the one-way street in Macau, so if you want to Macau Tower should take a taxi. Do not be afraid of the island of Macau is expensive because of the wider South Jakarta.
Who want to test your nerve to try bungee jump at Macau Tower. Only, once prices jump quite expensive. For backpack tourists like me, the price rose to the Tower was also quite expensive.
