Belize is a country on the east coast of Central America, bordering Mexico to the northwest and Guatemala to the west and south. At only 22,800 square kilometer it is a rather small country. However it has an abundance of terrestrial and marine species and a huge diversity of ecosystems, making it globally significant.

Belize has a diverse culture with English, Spanish, and Creole influences.  Belize had strong Mayan influences in its early days, then they were over taken by Spanish colony followed by the British Empire. in 1954 Belize started working toward their independence, however the British troops remained due to the threat from Guatemala to overtake the country. In 1981, Belize claimed their independence. Through all these influences Belize has a number of different languages even today.

Belize has a quite low human habitat, making it an ideal home for over 5,000 spieces of plants and hundreds of spieces of animals. Belize established the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary to protect the forests, fauna and watersheds. The senctuary spreads over 400 square kilometres in the eastern slope of the Maya MOuntains. The sanctuary was founded for the jaguar.

Belize also has a beautiful Barrier Reef, roughly 300 kilometers long. The Belize Barrier Reef is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. This is the second largest Barrier Reef in the World. It is the perfect spot for scuba diving and snorkelling, attracting over 260,000 visitors per year.

There are also rafting and Kayaking tours running in the region. If you are not into water sports you can enjoy various jungle and wildlife reserves, hiking, bird watching helicopter touring or visiting the ancient Mayan ruins.

Fun things in this country, one of Belize Barrier Reef. For those of you who like underwater tours, this is the sights you should not miss.

Belize has tropical climate with wet and dry seasons, making it a balmy 30 degrees all year around for you to enjoy!
